Unseen Denver

What is Unseen Denver?

Unseen Denver is a gallery of pictures, mostly from camera phones. The scenery is typically unique to those of us that live within Denver, CO. More information can be found here: What is Unseen Denver?

Who started Unseen Denver?

Early in the spring of 2009 I started taking pictures of the city and uploading them to Twittpic, labeling them Unseen Denver. A couple other people began to do it too and it kind of became a thing. Some of the original Unseen Denver contributors were: @meggismiles, @Teneighteen, @SpacePirateRil, @monkandmao, @voteforgrant and @hookedonwinter. If I missed your name, please let me know.

Why did you start Unseen Denver?

I love living in the city. I grew up in the streets of downtown Denver, and I am close to her streets and alleys. I also love the anonymous fame of street artists, taggers and graffiti artists. Beyond that there is an element of irony to things like a styrofoam cup stuck in a fence, or torn jeans hanging on someone's tree. This is a document of the cleverness, creativity and strangeness of our neighbors.

How often is Unseen Denver updated?

Unseen Denver will be updated at least once a day until we run out of pictures.

Can I send in pictures too?

Undoubtedly YES! For instructions on how to submit your pictures to Unseen Denver, please go to Submit a Photo to Unseen Denver

What kind of pictures should I send?

Anytime you're walking down the street in Denver and you see something inanimate and interesting. Some of the things that we've taken pictures of are stickers, litter, odd snowdrifts, flooded intersections, alleyway scenes, unique city views and of course graffiti.

How do I know what neighborhood I'm in?

MapBuzz has an awesome dynamic Map of Denver Neighborhoods.

Why does all of the graffiti look like crap?

I live on Capitol Hill. There's not a lot of quality pieces in the places that I go. One of the reason this web site was started is to get a wider perspective of different kinds of art and life that can be found in Denver neighborhoods. If you've seen an amazing piece, please send it to Unseen Denver and we will add it to the collection.

I know who did that one! Wouldn't you like to know who it is?

Absolutely not! Please do not identify yourself as an outlaw, and please do not identify any of the outlaw artists featured in Unseen Denver. That way if I ever get subpoena from the city, or something like that, there are no incriminating records.

I know the name of that graffiti character, or I can read that tag/piece. Can I tell you what it is?

YES! If you recognize a piece and you know it's name, please let us know so we can label it properly.

I tweeted my picture with the #unseendenver hashtag and I never saw it on the website. What the hell man?

I rarely take photos that are tweeted with the #unseendenver hashtag. I don't know why; maybe I'm lazy, maybe I didn't check it that day, maybe I know that you were the one who farted that time. There are just too many possible answers. I'm sorry.†

I don't like vandals, and I don't appreciate you condoning the defacement of my fine city.

Sucks to be you...move to the suburbs. If you want information about how to put a stop to this urban moral decay, I suggest you contact the Metro Area Graffiti Task Force. Best of luck, chump.
