Before Unseen Denver was even an idea, all I wanted to do was upload cool pictures of what I was doing right then. The pictures were alleyways, parking lots, Capitol Hill streets and anything that was going on just then. I never thought that what we were doing was important, or interesting to anyone but me, my friends and the few people that gave us props on Twitter.

Clearly it is more than that. The only reason I know this is because of the love that Unseen Denver has been getting from all of the people who visit the site and send in pictures, prose and poetry. We get visits from people all over the US, Canada, UK and all over Europe, Mexico, South America, Africa…Christ! I had no idea that people cared about this shit. The truth is, they do.
Worldwide Moment is an event that was created with a similar idea in mind, although the scope and purpose is much more broad then ours is right now. Worldwide Moment is a simultaneous photography event that has been taking place since 2007. The concept is simple. Everyone take a picture at the exact minute of the exact day, in unison, all over the world. The idea is brilliant, you have to admit. The goal of Worldwide Moment isn’t just photography, although that is their means.
What is Worldwide Moment?
How does Worldwide Moment work?
On Sunday October 10, 2010 at 10:10am Greenwich Mean Time everyone take a picture of where you are. Send the picture to www.WorldwideMoment.org along with your location and a short story and they will publish the images as they come in. Brilliant!
Since the pictures are all to be taken at the exact moment, it’s important that you know what time zone you are in. When it’s 10:10am in Greenwich, it will be 4:10 AM in Denver. We will be up anyway because, what the hell are you supposed to be doing at 4am on a Sunday? Seriously. Chances are I’ll be at Denver Diner, or other greasy all-nighter, apologizing to the waitress for having to clean up @Courier_New’s puke on the table…so look forward to that picture.
There’s not too much else to say about that. Please check out the Worldwide Moment Gallery to see images from 2009. The first picture in the gallery was sent in by our very good friend @TheBigKlosowski, from right here in Downtown Denver.
Thanks,
